We are convinced:
to reach new heights, one must humbly squat low.
Let go of ego and expand the scope.
We believe: by plowing deep, we can achieve our visions and soar among the clouds.

“Dada” in French means a rocking horse for kids, while “dada” in Persian is an informal term for a nanny. These connotations symbolize the DADA IDEA team’s rich imagination and enchanting fantasy, plus an avant-garde hue of Dadaism.

DADA IDEA Co., Ltd. was founded in 2002. For over two decades, the art director Lin Shuen-Long, an internationally active artist, has carried on his ideal of “imbuing art into the environment” in leading the team to create stunning works in Taiwan and abroad.

Through a great variety of materials and ingenious ideas and forms, DADA IDEA creates land and environmental artworks that intimately correspond with local ecology and resonate with viewers, inspiring an infinite imagination about an aesthetic universe.

Art Director / Lin Shuen-Long

Lin Shuen-Long (b. 1958) grew up in Taichung’s countryside and was raised by his grandparents as a child. Later, he moved in with his father, whose strict discipline and the change of environment from simple rural regions with rice paddies to urban jungles made his days rather stressful. He consequently devoted his time entirely to painting.

Lin graduated from the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 1989. In 1991, he entered l’École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and obtained a residence permit as an artist after one year that enabled him to stay in France and continued creating art. Lin has been an active artist in the French, Taiwanese and Japanese art scenes.

Throughout his artistic career, he has endeavored in exploring diverse expression of different mediums and is never satisfied with the status quo. What has remained unchanged, however, is his exuberant curiosity about the world and his fervent passion for art.

After returning to Taiwan, Lin delved into the creation of public art, and has created numerous works around Taiwan, including Spring Light Appears for Taipei MRT Daan Park Station, Listening to Nature for National Taichung Theater, Saint Power for the Xiandu Substation of Taiwan Power Company, Mustard Seeds and Mt. Sumeru for the Academia Sinica, the Romantic Route 3 Arts Festival, etc.

He has also been repeatedly invited to participate in Echigo-Tsumari Art Field and Setouchi Triennale, which showcased several of his well-known works, such as Beyond the Border – the Ocean (2013), Beyond the Border – Tide (2016) and Beyond the Border – Wave (2019), making him one of the most internationally celebrated Taiwanese artists of public art.

Lin currently lives and works in Taiwan, and in 2019, he began teaching as a visiting professor at the College of Art, Nihon University.
